Ian Boardman, IBBIS (UK) Limited
Ian is our partner for the management and implementation of the 'Making it Happen' mentoring programme in the United Kingdom

Ian has a degree in horticulture from Bath University and an MBA from Henley Management College. He has been in the Garden Centre industry for the last 30 years, half of that time employed in senior management positions within large garden centre operations and half as a business improvement specialist in both the UK and Europe.
During the last decade he has been increasingly in demand as a garden centre business improvement expert helping clients to improve their businesses and facilitate change. He has carried out over 600 garden centre inspections for The Garden Centre Association in the UK, and for Bord Glas in Ireland.
Ian works intensively with clients to improve their customer service provision and he oversees mystery shopping for many leading garden retailers as well as preparing and presenting inspirational talks for industry conferences in the USA, Ireland, UK, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic.
He has prepared and presented over 160 training and coaching workshops including ‘Masterclasses’ where everyone who attends is guaranteed to be inspired to do something different.
Ian observes that Garden Centres are often too busy to make money and success is often prevented by a lack of direction and attention to detail, sometimes fuzzy management and supervisory styles and “just doing stuff”. He helps businesses to refocus and get back on track; hitting and exceeding goals and profit targets.
